Beautiful Cookies by Desmond Curran Event Center W39

About 7 years ago, my kids and I decided to sell cookies out in front of our house during The Buffalo Garden Walk. We sold out in a couple of hours. I’ve always been a good cook, looked at cooking schools for college but decided I wouldn’t like working in a stressful kitchen cooking for people I didn’t care about. After Garden Walk, the seed was planted and I started baking more and more cookies, bringing them to schools I worked at, etc. Everyone said they were amazing, and I kept thinking, “there is not a kick ass cookie in Buffalo, huge, homemade and awesome.I knew I was done with teaching last year, and began selling my cookies outside of Ashker’s. in Elmwood Village. Got great reviews, etc., and I was ready to quit my teaching job, but listened to a lot of the negative people in my life, and knowing I was doing the wrong thing, kept teaching last fall. Finally walked out of the building March first 2016, and Beautiful Cookies was born!.Beautiful Cookies, the name, came about for a few reasons. When I was teaching, if students would come up to me and say, “Mr. C, your class sucks, here’s an apple, my response ‘beautiful’. Mr. C sorry I missed your class this week, I was locked up, ‘beautiful’, Mr. C, I got a 100% on my math test, beautiful.”Also, if you’ll look, every cookie looks a bit different, but like people, are beautiful inside. I love that about my cookies. I don’t attempt to change them to be perfectly symmetrical, some might be a bit larger, smaller, and even taste a bit different each day, but they are awesome.Fast forward to present. I currently have a full commercial kitchen on the Westside, capable of taking large orders. My children are helping along the way. Gideon designed my logo, and both Hazel and Gideon created some of my cookie names; Black Sea, Raining Dalmatians, Old School. I am a passionate, very funny, loud outspoken baker. I acted in NYC, taught in NYC and Buffalo for 13 years, and commercial fished on Cape Cod Mass, where I grew up. I have a BA in acting from Bates college in Maine, and a Masters in Special Education from Brooklyn College in Brooklyn, NY. I bring all of my experiences to my cookies, and my promoting how delicious they
