2 Crafty Chix is a mother daughter team from Michigan. Janice started the business in 2007. Karen joined her in 2009. We mainly do shows in Michigan and a few in Illinois and Ohio. All items are made in our house. We have 4 machines. 2 sewing machines, 1 embroidery/sewing and a 10 needle embroidery machine. All embroidered items start with yardage. No blanks are used.
I have Premier+ 2 embroidery software that I use to digitize most of our embroidered designs. Each bib starts out as a rectangle of 100% cotton fabric. It is then hooped and stitched out. I back the bib top with 100% cotton flannel. I sew the two pieces together. Cut the pattern out, snip the neck, turn out the bib and then press, top stitch and attach the velcro. My best selling embroidered bibs say ” I Love My Great Aunt” and “I Love my Great Grandma”. I have wide range of names for Grandma – Oma, Nana, Grammy, MeMaw, Mimi and Gigi. Others include – Grandpa, Papa, Opa, Great Uncle, Great Great Aunt, Big Sister, Big, Brother, Mommy and Daddy. My newest is “My Siblings Have Paws”.
My most creative product is my stuffed softies. All of the patterns were created by myself. I mainly draw out the creatures directly onto the fabric. I only have a few paper patterns that I made. I have been making cats with curly tails, chickens, foxes and owls for a few years. I am now expanding to dinosaurs, lil monsters and puppy dogs. I am looking to make snowmen and some other Christmas themed creatures for the holidays. Currently, about 90% of the softies are made from scrap fabric from other projects. They are stuffed with Poly-Fil.
We use 100% cotton & 100% cotton flannel in our quilts, bibs, chair covers, crayon rolls, pacifier clips, walker caddies & some softies. Reusable sandwich & snack bags are made from 100% cotton with a rip-stop nylon interior & a Velcro closure. The hardware on the pacifier clips are CPSIA compliant. We take great pride in using quality materials.
